HARDWARE NEWS manhkbrady - 28-Aug-2024, 5:00 pm

Previously, we covered the significant performance improvements for AMD Ryzen CPUs in gaming workloads brought by Windows 11’s 24H2 update. The update is now available as an optional update for the current version of Windows (23H2), eliminating the need for Ryzen users to use a preview build of Windows to access this free performance boost.

Any AMD Ryzen CPU users can find the new update listed under the "Optional Updates" section in the Windows Update menu as "KB5041587," simplifying the process for those who have not yet updated or opted into the 24H2 preview. An AMD spokesperson stated, "We expect the performance uplift to be very similar between 24H2 and 23H2 with KB5041587 installed."

Today we have an update for the community following last week's gaming performance blog.

Optimizations are now available for all Windows 11 users via an optional Windows update.

This update brings performance improvements for AMD’s Zen 3, Zen 4, and Zen 5 CPUs, with testing showing average gains of around 10% across various games. It’s worth noting that in some cases, performance gains of up to 30% are possible, demonstrating the significant impact of this update. If the branch prediction in Windows 11 24H2, and now Windows 11 23H2 through this optional update, delivers performance enhancements as significant as those observed in preview builds, it could potentially provide a significant boost to AMD's latest processors in gaming and certain productivity workloads. Further testing will be needed to ascertain the difference.
