Logitech Pro X3 Superstrike brings better haptics and battery life

After months of leaks, rumors, and promotional material, Logitech has officially unveiled the Pro X3 Superstrike, its latest flagship gaming mouse and successor to the Pro X2 Superstrike. The unusually quick refresh means the previous model has barely been on the market for a year, but Logitech is using the new version to refine its experimental HITS technology and improve several aspects of the design.

HITS, or Haptic Inductive Trigger System, remains the main attraction. Introduced with the Pro X2 Superstrike, the technology uses magnetic sensing for the primary mouse buttons, allowing users to adjust both actuation and haptic feedback. The system works somewhat like adjustable magnetic switches found in modern gaming keyboards and also enables features such as Rapid Trigger.

The Pro X3 Superstrike offers 10 actuation levels and six haptic intensity settings, giving users more control over how the mouse responds. Rapid Trigger adds five selectable reset points, reducing the amount of button movement required before another input can be registered. Logitech says the technology can reduce input latency by up to 30ms, although its advantages are likely to be most noticeable to players who can take advantage of extremely fast and precise clicks.

Beyond HITS, Logitech has made several smaller changes. The mouse weighs just 59 grams globally, with a slightly heavier 61-gram version for Europe, and the company has adjusted the weight distribution around the sensor housing. It also uses an updated HERO 2 sensor and supports an 8,000Hz wireless polling rate when paired with the included receiver.

Battery life has received a substantial boost as well. Logitech claims up to 135 hours of battery life, which is 45 hours more than the Pro X2 Superstrike. The improved efficiency of the new sensor helps offset some of the additional power consumption from the haptic system.

However, anyone hoping for a radically different design will have to look elsewhere. The Pro X3 Superstrike retains the same symmetrical shape and dimensions as its predecessor, and Bluetooth connectivity is still absent. The Pro X3 Superstrike will be available in black and black/magenta finishes, with shipping expected to begin October 6. It carries an MSRP of $199.99 / €189.99 / £169.99, putting it firmly in the premium esports mouse category.
