Revealed earlier this year, NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.5 aims to further refine the company’s Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation technologies. The Super Resolution portion of the update has already begun rolling out and is compatible with hundreds of games thanks to the DLSS Override feature in the NVIDIA App. Powered by a second-generation Transformer model, the technology significantly enhances image quality by restoring fine details while boosting performance in 4K gaming.
With GDC taking place this week in San Francisco, NVIDIA has now confirmed that the second major component of the update - Dynamic Multi Frame Generation - is scheduled to arrive on March 31. Similar to DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, this feature will initially be available across a wide selection of titles via the NVIDIA App for owners of GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs.
NVIDIA showcased the technology with Control Resonant, which will launch on PC featuring several RTX technologies, including DLSS 4.5, path-traced effects, and RTX Mega Geometry. The new DLSS 6x Frame Generation increases the maximum frame multiplier from 4x to 6x. In practical terms, this means that for every traditionally rendered frame, DLSS can create up to five additional frames. Players can also define their target frame rate, allowing the system to dynamically tune frame generation to match that goal.
NVIDIA has indicated that a broader official release of DLSS 4.5’s frame generation improvements for mainstream GeForce users will arrive later. For now, the feature is available as part of an opt-in beta, aimed at enthusiasts who want early access to the latest DLSS developments. To test it, users must enable DLSS overrides through the NVIDIA App.
Beyond performance gains, NVIDIA says the updated frame generation model also improves visual clarity. By incorporating more engine-level data, DLSS can render user interface elements more accurately, making static UI components appear sharper and clearer. The update also enhances overall image quality in demanding ray-traced titles, while delivering up to 35% more performance compared to DLSS 4.
With GPU supply still affected by memory shortages, availability remains an important factor for many buyers. While higher-end models may fluctuate in price and stock, the RTX 5060 continues to stand out as a balanced option for gamers who want access to next-generation features without paying top-tier prices.
