AMD confirms Radeon AI Pro R9700 GPU pricing and release details
AMD has announced that its Radeon AI Pro R9700 will soon be available for purchase at retailers. This graphics card, featuring 32GB of memory, will have a suggested retail price of $1,299. Previously, this GPU was only accessible through pre-built systems, requiring users to purchase entirely new machines to take advantage of it. Starting October 27th, this will no longer be the case.
The graphics card is based on the same silicon as AMD's Radeon RX 9070 XT, with its major enhancement being the extensive 32GB frame buffer on a 256-bit bus. This workstation GPU occupies two slots and has a thermal design power (TDP) of 300W. It is powered by two 8-pin PCIe power connectors and encompasses four DisplayPort outputs.
The reference model is intended for multi-GPU configurations, featuring a dual-slot, blower-style cooler. AMD has previously showcased quad-GPU setups aimed at situations that require exceptional performance for local AI inference. An initial batch of partner cards from well-known add-in board manufacturers like Sapphire and Gigabyte appropriately maintains a dual-slot design, with most models also having quad DisplayPort 2.1 outputs and two 8-pin power connectors.

Whether you choose one or several, the Radeon AI Pro R9700 will likely be in significant demand due to the ongoing AI surge. With its 32GB VRAM and compatibility with AMD ROCm, it meets the criteria for extensive language and diffusion models. However, if you can persuade your boss that it's necessary for work, there's no reason this can't also function as a 32GB gaming card when no one is watching.
The debut of the Radeon AI Pro R9700 underscores AMD's increasing advancements in AI and professional graphics - yet the true excitement for gaming performance lies with the Radeon RX 9070 XT. Powered by RDNA 4 architecture and featuring 16GB of high-speed VRAM, it is designed to deliver outstanding frame rates, vibrant visuals, and leading-edge efficiency for gamers seeking the best experience.
