Intel to launch AI graphics card Battlemage with 24 GB DRAM
Intel is reportedly preparing to release the Battlemage GPU with 24 GB of VRAM in 2025, doubling the capacity of the Alchemist series and targeting intensive artificial intelligence (AI) tasks.
Intel plans to significantly increase VRAM capacity for the next-generation Battlemage GPUs, equipping them with 24 GB of VRAM next year. This information is supported by shipping documents found on Platform X, which reveal a clamshell design on the BMG-G21 chip, enabling the use of 12 GDDR6 modules with 16 GB capacity each. This GPU is positioned for professional users, likely under the Pro or Flex series.
Earlier this month, Intel officially introduced the Battlemage lineup for mainstream users, featuring the upcoming Arc B580 and Arc B570. Among these, the Arc B580 has received positive feedback, with demand far exceeding supply. According to rumors, Intel has developed at least three Battlemage chip variants: BMG-G31, BMG-G21, and BMG-G10. The BMG-G21 chip serves as the foundation for the Arc B580, offering a 192-bit memory interface and 20 Xe2 cores.

The 24 GB Battlemage GPU, expected to launch in 2025, is targeted at the professional market. This suggests the product won’t cater to general consumers but could be the successor to the Flex or Pro lineup based on Alchemist. Its intended audience includes data centers, edge computing, scientific research, and individual developers.
Currently, the Arc Pro A60—the flagship GPU in the Arc Pro group—only has 12 GB of VRAM. Video memory capacity plays a crucial role in training AI models and processing inferences for large language models. Other Intel competitors have already reached up to 48 GB VRAM, such as AMD’s Radeon W7000 series or Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace workstation series. However, the BMG-G21 is designed to compete with the RTX 4060 rather than high-end models like the RTX 4090 or RTX 6000 Ada. A more realistic comparison would be the RTX 2000 Ada with 16 GB VRAM or the Radeon Pro W7600 with 8 GB VRAM.
Intel is expected to reveal more information next month. However, given the 2025 timeline, it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact official launch date for this GPU. Until then, while waiting for more exciting news, remember to use our comparison tool to find the best deal for your next favorite game.
