NVIDIA App takes the reins as classic NVIDIA Control Panel is retired

Nvidia has officially confirmed the retirement of the Nvidia Control Panel after more than 20 years, marking the end of one of the company’s longest-running software utilities. With the latest update to the Nvidia App, all major features from the classic Control Panel are now available in the newer software, allowing Nvidia to fully transition users to its modern platform.

The Nvidia App was originally introduced in 2024 as a unified replacement for both GeForce Experience and the traditional Control Panel. Since then, Nvidia has gradually migrated settings and functionality into the new application, aiming to simplify GPU management in a single interface.

Although the classic Control Panel will no longer receive updates, fixes, or new features, existing installations will continue to function for now. The app also remains available through the Microsoft Store for users who still prefer the older interface. However, Nvidia has made it clear that the software is no longer actively supported, meaning compatibility issues may eventually appear over time.

There is one exception to the transition. Nvidia RTX Pro users will continue receiving Control Panel support temporarily, as some professional workstation features have not yet been added to the Nvidia App. Nvidia says the older software will remain available for those users until all enterprise and professional controls are fully migrated.

Inside the Nvidia App, users can now access graphics and game-specific settings through the Graphics > Program Settings menu, replacing the old “Manage 3D Settings” section from the Control Panel. Display configuration and related options are now found under the app’s System tab.

The retirement of the Nvidia Control Panel marks the end of an era for PC gaming and graphics management. For many longtime users, the software became a familiar part of configuring display settings, tweaking performance, and managing GPU features across generations of Nvidia hardware. While the classic Control Panel still works today, Nvidia’s future focus is clearly centered on the Nvidia App as the company’s primary software hub for gaming, display controls, driver management, and optimization tools going forward.
