Batman adventures and a tactical RPG are free on Epic for limited time

Telltale’s Batman games and Sunderfolk are now free on Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store has officially brought back its popular mystery giveaways promotion as part of the 2026 Mega Sale, and this year’s event is starting strong with a pair of notable free games. Epic revealed that players can now claim both Telltale Batman Shadows Edition and Sunderfolk at no cost for a limited time.

The larger of the two offerings is Telltale Batman Shadows Edition, which actually includes two complete episodic adventure games. Players receive Batman: The Telltale Series from 2016 along with its sequel, Batman: The Enemy Within, which launched in 2017. Together, the package contains all ten episodes across both seasons.

What makes this edition unique is the inclusion of Shadows Mode, a visual overhaul that transforms the games into a high-contrast black-and-white presentation inspired by classic noir films and comic book aesthetics. The games focus heavily on storytelling and player choice, allowing users to shape Bruce Wayne’s relationships, determine how certain characters evolve, and influence the overall direction of Gotham’s underworld. Like other Telltale projects, dialogue decisions and major actions can significantly affect how events unfold.

The second freebie, Sunderfolk, offers a very different experience. This cooperative tactical RPG supports anywhere from one to four players and is built around strategic combat and teamwork. The game supports both online multiplayer and local couch co-op play, with an interesting feature allowing players to use their smartphones as controllers during sessions.

In Sunderfolk, players embark on challenging missions, use skill cards to build strategies, and coordinate attacks against increasingly dangerous enemies and bosses. The title is designed to be approachable for newcomers while still offering enough tactical depth to keep experienced RPG fans engaged.

Both games are now available to claim through the Epic Games Store and will remain free until May 21, 2026. After that date, Epic will rotate in another mystery giveaway. As usual, once the titles are claimed, they remain permanently attached to the user’s library.
