This Week's Video Game Releases - May 2026 (Week 21)
Release date

The week of May 18–24 is shaping up to be one of the busiest release windows of 2026, with major franchises, long-awaited sequels, indie experiments, and nostalgic revivals all arriving within a span of five days. Racing fans, RPG veterans, farming enthusiasts, and platformer devotees alike will find plenty to watch as publishers crowd the late-May calendar ahead of the summer showcase season.

May 18 - 24 releases

Leading the charge is the highly anticipated release of Forza Horizon 6 on May 18. Microsoft's flagship open-world racing series returns with expectations at an all-time high following the success of its predecessor. Early previews have pointed to expanded multiplayer systems, a larger world map, and a heavier emphasis on seasonal live events, positioning the title as one of the year's biggest exclusives.

On May 19, remaster nostalgia collides with simulation realism. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, bringing the cult-favorite action adventure to current-generation hardware with upgraded performance and visual enhancements. The re-release gives longtime fans another opportunity to revisit the apocalyptic universe of War while introducing the franchise to newer console audiences.

The same day also sees the arrival to Nintendo Switch of Farming Simulator 26 , the latest installment in the long-running agricultural management series. The franchise has steadily grown from a niche simulator into a global phenomenon, with players drawn to its detailed machinery systems, cooperative gameplay, and increasingly realistic economic mechanics.

Shoot-’em-up fans will be watching May 20 closely with the debut of Psyvariar 3, a sequel reviving one of the genre's classic bullet-hell franchises. Also launching that day is Thick As Thieves, the competitive stealth title from veteran developers aiming to blend immersive-sim mechanics with online multiplayer tension.

May 21 stands out as the week’s most crowded release day. Narrative-focused indie sequel Coffee Talk Tokyo transports players to a new late-night café setting, continuing the relaxing conversation-driven formula that earned the original a dedicated following. Nintendo fans will also be paying attention to Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, a colorful platforming adventure expected to appeal to both younger audiences and longtime Mario universe fans.

Additional May 21 releases include the retro-inspired action game FZ: Formation Z, espionage thriller ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies, atmospheric sci-fi shooter Luna Abyss, and strategy adaptation King of Tokyo - Richard Garfield based on the popular tabletop property. Rounding out the day is STARBITES, an indie RPG blending mech combat with turn-based exploration.

The week concludes on May 22 with two sharply contrasting releases. Bubsy 4D revives the controversial mascot platforming franchise once again, while LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight brings the Caped Crusader back to the LEGO universe in what is expected to be one of the month’s biggest family-oriented launches.

With blockbuster racing titles, remasters, indie storytelling experiences, and several high-profile revivals arriving almost simultaneously, this week's release slate offers a plethora of new experiences. As usual, you just need to use our comparator to check out the best deals and purchase your favourite games at the cheapest prices.
