Alan Wake 2's New Game Plus mode will have some surprises

Not only does Alan Wake 2 bring back into the fray an iconic character in the horror genre but it also has some of the best graphics among any games recently released. Of course, the high-quality graphics have a price and you may find yourself having to upgrade your PC if you want to play the game on Ultra settings. But no matter what graphic mode you choose, Alan Wake 2 is worthy of a spot in your video game library for many other reasons.

The game follows two different storylines and both of them are thrilling approaches to the supernatural and terrifying world that lies right beyond the corner of your eye when you visit Bright Falls. Whether you are trapped in the Dark Place as Alan Wake, or investigate mysterious events in the small town as Saga Anderson, Alan Wake 2 will have you glued to your screen for many hours and leave you wanting more.

An alternative story

Developer Remedy Entertainment wants to offer you a new layer of complexity in the game and expand Alan Wake 2 beyond your first playthrough. The studio has confirmed that it will release a New Game Plus mode that will make your second run much more exciting than you would think. In this mode, you will gain access to a higher difficulty, and start the game all over again while retaining all the upgrades and weapons you unlocked on your previous playthrough. The most interesting addition of New Game Plus is that it will feature a "new alternative narrative, including new Manuscript pages and new video content".

New Game Plus won't be available in Alan Wake 2 at launch and it will be added later. It's hard to guess what direction that "alternative narrative" takes in Alan Wake 2 as Remedy usually likes to surprise players in its games.
