AMD rumored to prep budget Ryzen 7 7700X3D gaming CPU for gamers
According to a new leak from known hardware insider chilleddog, AMD may be preparing a more affordable version of its popular Ryzen 7 7800X3D gaming processor. The rumored chip, reportedly called the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, would aim to bring AMD’s 3D V-Cache gaming performance to a lower price tier.
Even in 2026, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D remains one of the strongest value-focused gaming CPUs on the market. It continues to offer excellent gaming performance at a significantly lower price than newer flagship X3D chips like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The rumored 7700X3D appears designed to push that value proposition even further.
According to the leak, the Ryzen 7 7700X3D would retain the same key advantage as the 7800X3D: its large 96MB pool of L3 cache powered by AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology. This extra cache helps improve gaming performance by keeping more data closer to the processor cores, reducing memory latency in many titles.
The main compromise would reportedly come from lower clock speeds. While the Ryzen 7 7800X3D runs at 4.2 GHz base and 5.0 GHz boost clocks, the rumored 7700X3D is said to operate at 4.0 GHz base and 4.5 GHz boost speeds. That represents a relatively small base clock reduction and around a 10% drop in maximum boost frequency.

Pricing could be where this processor becomes especially appealing. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D currently sells for roughly $365 / 339€ / £349, while speculation suggests the 7700X3D could launch closer to the $300 mark. If accurate, this would make AMD’s gaming-focused X3D technology more accessible to budget-conscious PC builders.
AMD has already proven this strategy can work with previous generations. The Ryzen 7 5700X3D, a lower-clocked alternative to the 5800X3D, became one of the best-value gaming CPUs on the AM4 platform thanks to its combination of strong gaming performance and lower pricing. The leak also aligns with AMD’s broader push to expand its X3D lineup. At the high end, AMD recently introduced more advanced cache-heavy processors, while a rumored 7700X3D would target gamers looking for strong performance without flagship-level costs.
For now, AMD has not officially confirmed the processor, so these specifications and pricing details should still be treated as rumors until further announcements arrive.
