AMD Anti-Lag 2 now available to game developers for improved in-game latency
AMD has officially released their Radeon Anti-Lag 2 SDK for developers, potentially enabling any DirectX 11 or DirectX 12 game to support AMD's lag-reducing technology.
AMD Anti-Lag 2 is an enhanced version of the original Anti-Lag, offering deeper latency optimizations through direct game integration, rather than solely at the driver level. This allows developers to implement the technology at the most effective point in their game’s logic, maximizing latency reduction. With this technology, users of AMD RDNA 1 and newer GPUs can expect a more responsive and lower-latency gaming experience. However, developers must first incorporate the technology into their games.
The SDK will be accessible via the GPUOpen platform, an open-source hub for tools, resources, and technologies aimed at game developers. Game creators can download Anti-Lag 2 from GPUOpen, providing them with the necessary tools, libraries, and documentation to minimize in-game latency.

AMD has also announced that their latest Anti-Lag technology will be part of an upcoming open-source release of FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3). This means developers can integrate both features simultaneously. Since Anti-Lag helps address the latency issues associated with Frame Generation, this is a strategic move by AMD that should encourage wider adoption of Anti-Lag by bundling it with the more popular FSR 3.
It remains unclear what additional improvements will be included in AMD's updated FSR 3. Given that AMD recently launched a refined version of its driver-level Fluid Motion Frames technology, it’s possible that similar advancements have been applied to FSR 3’s Frame Generation.
