Fable will use the same engine as the Forza games
Although the core of Peter Molyneux's fantasy series has been a hit with action-RPG gamers, it has also had its ups and downs. Since the release of the third installment, Fable III, in 2010, the Fable license has more or less stalled. Some games have been released since then, such as Fable Heroes, or Fable: The Journey, which can only be played with Kinect, but it cannot be said that the hearts of gamers have been won over.. Fans of the original trilogy are now waiting for Fable IV.
There were rumors back in 2018 saying that a new installment in the Fable series was in the hands of Playground Games, as LionHead has not been around since 2016. This was confirmed last year with the official announcement of the next Fable at the Xbox Games Showcase, which took place on 23 July 2020. This choice may have surprised many players, as Playgrounds Games is known for being the developer of the Forza Horizon series, whose games are nothing similar to action RPGs. Some players even thought that Fable would become an MMORPG. But Shpeshal Ed, an insider and co-founder of XboxEra, recently said that the game will have online elements such as co-op multiplayer but will not be an MMORPG.
A job offer for a software engineer at Turn 10, which is working in association with Playground Games on the game and developed Forza Motorsports, has caught the attention of some fans as it reveals that that Fable will run on the same engine as Forza Horizon, namely ForzaTech. The offer also talks of Fable as an open-world action RPG, and it also mentions ray-tracing.
That's all we know about the game right now, but any information is valuable to the fans until the new Fable is finally revealed. If you haven't played any of the games in the series yet, you can find the remake of the first game, Fable Anniversary, on our comparison site.
