Moss: The Forgotten Relic Brings Adventure to PC & Consoles

After years of being closely associated with virtual reality gaming, Moss is finally making its way to traditional PC and console platforms through Moss: The Forgotten Relic. The project is scheduled to launch in Summer 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, marking the first time Quill’s journey will become accessible to a much broader audience without requiring a VR headset.

Originally released for PlayStation VR in 2018, Moss quickly earned praise for its blend of platforming, puzzle-solving, and fantasy-driven storytelling. At a time when many VR titles still felt more like short-lived tech showcases, Polyarc managed to create a structured adventure experience with pacing closer to traditional console games. Players not only controlled Quill directly but also interacted with the environment itself to help the character overcome obstacles throughout the journey.

One of the biggest reasons the Moss franchise remains memorable within the VR community is Quill herself. Despite having very little dialogue, the character left a strong impression thanks to expressive animations and the natural way she interacted with players. The series’ success also went beyond visuals and gameplay concepts, as the first title won “Best VR/AR Game” at The Game Awards 2018, while both Moss (2018) and Moss: Book II have consistently appeared on numerous “best VR games” lists over the past several years.

However, even with the growth of VR gaming through devices like Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2, the market still remains significantly smaller than the traditional PC and console space. As a result, many VR-focused studios have started exploring ways to expand their audience through flatscreen or multiplatform releases. For Polyarc, Moss: The Forgotten Relic appears to be a major step toward introducing the franchise to more mainstream players.

It is also important to note that Moss: The Forgotten Relic is not an entirely new sequel or standalone spin-off. Based on currently available information, the project is essentially a reworked combination of Moss (2018) and Moss: Book II, transforming both VR adventures into a single seamless experience designed for traditional screens. Polyarc’s decision to use a completely new title instead of something like “Collection” or “Complete Edition” also gives the project the identity of a standalone release rather than a simple bundle.

That said, this does not appear to be a straightforward VR-to-flatscreen port. Early footage suggests Polyarc has adjusted the control scheme, camera work, and portions of the gameplay flow to better suit controllers and keyboard-based playstyles. The current trailer also indicates that exploration and platforming elements have been refined to feel more natural on standard displays instead of relying heavily on VR-oriented perspectives.

From another perspective, the project could also significantly expand the future reach of the Moss franchise. Many players have shown interest in the series over the years but never had the opportunity to experience it due to the cost and accessibility barriers of VR hardware. This flatscreen version may finally become their first chance to follow Quill’s adventure on PC or consoles.

At the time of writing, Polyarc has not yet revealed the official price of Moss: The Forgotten Relic. Even so, considering the reputation built by the franchise’s previous VR titles, this remains one of the more noteworthy fantasy adventure releases to watch in summer 2026 for PC and console players.
