Steam Frame trademark by Valve sparks hardware rumors
Valve has filed two trademarks for “Steam Frame,” one related to “Computer Hardware” and another pertaining to “Computer Game Consoles.” These trademarks suggest Valve's intention to introduce new hardware devices, building on its existing Steam Deck PC handheld.
It's important to highlight that Valve's trademarks are quite expansive. While they pertain to “Computer Hardware” and “Computer Game Consoles,” they also include video game accessories and computer peripherals. This implies that Valve’s Steam Frame might not necessarily be a console powered by Steam.
Valve has yet to make any statements regarding these trademarks. Nevertheless, there is speculation surrounding the possibility that Valve might be developing an updated version of its Valve Index VR headset. There are whispers about a new Valve VR headset with the codename “Deckard” being in development. Additionally, rumors suggest that Valve could be working on a second iteration of the Steam Controller.
Valve trademarks STEAM FRAME - intended to cover the categories of computer game consoles for recreational game playing; video game consoles; video game accessories, namely, controllers for video games.

One for computer hardware as wellhttps://t.co/5zTvZmBBil pic.twitter.com/0jwqloUTm6
The success of Valve’s Steam Deck may prompt the company to create a more powerful desktop or console-like device. This could enable Valve to provide a console-like PC gaming experience with SteamOS. However, it’s worth noting that such a device may not offer significant perks compared to conventional desktop PCs. The Steam Deck is highly portable and was released with a far superior user interface compared to any Windows-operated PC handheld available at that time. Would a Valve console be as attractive as the Steam Deck?
Regardless of whether it turns out to be a console, accessory, or VR headset, it’s apparent that Valve is developing something new. We hope Valve will announce something soon.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a handheld device that is already successful, optimized for top performance, and meant for serious gaming on the move, the ROG Ally X clearly stands out. With enhanced battery life, better ergonomics, and complete Windows functionality, it represents what the future of handheld gaming should strive for.
