The Last of Us Part II Remastered presents its roguelike mode

The Last of Us Part II Remastered promises to offer much more than just a new version of the classic adventure with better graphics. After confirming the official release date for the game, which will arrive on January 19 exclusively to PlayStation 5 consoles, developer Naughty Dog has lifted the veil over the additional features that The Last of Us Part II Remastered will bring to the series. We already know that the new version of the classic adventure will feature additional ways of enjoying the game, including the No Return mode.

Enjoy The Last of Us like never before

The developer studio has revealed new details about the No Return mode. It's a brand new type of experience and a roguelike survival mode that will put you in the shoes of some of the characters in the series. Only Ellie and Abby will be available when you start but you can unlock more as you play, including Dina, Jesse, Lev, Manny, Mei, Tommy, Yara, and Joel. In this mode, you will face four types of challenges that take place in a variety of iconic locations from The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

"Assault, which pits you against waves of enemies; Capture, in which you have to break into a safe full of valuable supplies enemies are guarding; Holdout, during which you and an AI-controlled buddy defend against Infected swarming around you; and Hunted, in which you need to survive until the timer runs out against continuous enemy reinforcements."

A boss fight will be waiting for you at the end of each encounter in No Return, and you will claim special rewards if you manage to come up victorious. This process can be repeated indefinitely while playing in this mode, but if you die, you will lose all your progress and will have to start from scratch and face new randomized scenarios. You will also be able to unlock special equipment that you can carry over from run to run by completing additional objectives.
