Total War Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Big Announcement

Total War gears up for 25th anniversary celebration and major reveal

Creative Assembly is preparing to mark a major milestone as the Total War franchise turns 25 this year. In a long celebration honoring the legacy of one of strategy gaming's most enduring series, the developer has announced a lineup of special events, community features, and what it's calling "the next era of Total War."

Celebrating the past, embracing the future

Starting this August, the anniversary celebration will launch with a series of retrospectives and community-driven content. Longtime fans can expect developer livestreams, behind-the-scenes stories, competitive multiplayer tournaments in both fantasy and historical settings, and deep discounts across the Total War catalogue.

The celebration will culminate in December with a first-of-its-kind video presentation: the Total War: 25th Anniversary Showcase. The event will feature game announcements, developer insights, and a look at what’s coming next for the series. This marks the first time Creative Assembly has organized a standalone video showcase dedicated entirely to Total War.

Roger Collum, Vice President of Total War, said:

"Beyond celebrating the past, we plan on welcoming the future of Total War in a big way. Behind the scenes, we’re in the early stages of producing the Total War: 25th Anniversary Showcase, the first video presentation of its kind in our history."

"Taking place in early December, this show will unveil the new games that you can expect to play in the near and distant future, as well as introduce you to the development teams making them. We'll have more details to share as we approach the end of the year, but whether you're a fantasy or history fan, there will be plenty to enjoy!"

The December showcase is expected to be the highlight of the anniversary year. With teasers suggesting both near-term and long-term game reveals, anticipation is growing within the Total War community. Speculation continues around whether new entries might span historical sequels that follow the steps of Total War: PHARAOH or even novelties for Total War: WARHAMMER III, though nothing has been officially confirmed.

The Total War franchise has sold over 36 million copies worldwide and stands as one of the most recognizable names in the grand strategy genre. With this anniversary, Creative Assembly looks not only to celebrate its legacy but to chart a course forward for years to come.
