Vindictus: Defying Fate took the internet by storm

Vindictus: Defying Fate took the internet by storm

When you mention a Korean game company, most people will probably think of MMO games. Korean games have been stuck with a single genre for a very long time. NEXON and their first Vindictus game release back in 2010 didn't catch many people's radar since there are so many MMOs out there. So, it's nice to see them coming back with Vindictus: Defying Fate, with a more focused single-player, action RPG gameplay rather than the old-fashioned MMO.

Vindictus: Defying Fate is an Action-RPG developed and published by NEXON. The game is currently still in the pre-alpha stage but has received many positive responses from the community. Taking inspiration from Celtic mythology, Vindictus: Defying Fate features intense and bloody fights against monsters. As NEXON described the game: "Immerse yourself in a dark and intense odyssey, where you'll face towering adversaries and navigate a 3D world teeming with mystery and danger."

Unexpectedly, NEXON has made a rather "bold" move by incorporating a particularly skimpy and revealing outfit for the main character. However, this decision has proven to be a successful marketing strategy, sparking considerable attention on the internet since its reveal. Reactions have been varied, with both negative and positive feedback, but it has undeniably captured the interest of many. Nevertheless, the primary focus of the game extends beyond just this aspect.

Now, long after the release of Elden Ring, the Souls-like genre continues to evolve. We've seen titles like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Lies of P emerge last year, all of which were fantastic games. Additionally, there's much anticipation surrounding the upcoming release of Wukong: Black Myth. At first glance, Vindictus: Defying Fate appears to draw direct inspiration from the Souls-like genre. It features mechanics such as dodge rolls with i-frames, a parrying system, and intense yet unforgiving combat that will test your skills and reflexes against formidable bosses. Naturally, the game also includes the so-called "bonfire," which serves as a save point for your character to respawn every time they perish.

The monsters' unpredictable attack patterns, coupled with this new combat system, create a highly challenging yet rewarding experience. Since the game is still in its early stages of development, we can't predict what lies ahead, but it shows promising potential thus far. With all the necessary ingredients already in place, the only task remaining is to craft a perfect gaming experience, and it seems well on its way to achieving that goal.

Familiar faces

For the loyal fans of the 2010 MMO Vindictus, NEXON reintroduces Lann and Fiona, the two beloved characters of the franchise, into the new gameplay. Fiona is a versatile fighter armed with a long sword and shield, while Lann wields dual swords, offering two distinct playstyles for the player base: one defensive and one offensive. Players can choose either character to embark on a journey through the game.

Though we still do not have a scheduled release date for the game, make sure to keep an eye out for it. Make sure to use our price comparator to get the deals for youself when preorder Vindictus: Defying Fate.
