Planet Zoo is a construction and management simulation video game developed and published by Frontier Developments for PC. The creators of Planet Coaster and Zoo Tycoon bring the ultimate zoo sim, featuring authentic living animals who think, feel and explore the world you create around them. Similar in gameplay to Zoo Tycoon, you will be able to build a zoo with more than 50 animals at release. Create unique habitats and vast landscapes, and release new generations of your animals back into the wild. Your choices come alive in a world where animal welfare and conservation comes first. Planet Zoo is about caring about the animals themselves. The game has inbuilt systems that encourage players to care equally about animal comfort as they do customer enjoyment.

Animals, controlled by artificial intelligence, behave similarly to their real-life counterparts. For instance, wolves adopt a pack mentality. Each species will have its own requirements and needs that you must satisfy.
The game also features a story mode. Each animal has its own genome, which can be modified to change its life expectancy, size, health, and fertility. The game also features a breeding system, and inbreeding, for example, would have negative consequences on the health of the animals. Building the ideal environments and keeping the animals happy affects their ability to reproduce. Not only does that have financial implications for your zoo, but proper conservation is a built-in goal that requires consideration.

The Planet Zoo Deluxe Edition includes the Planet Zoo game plus exclusive Beta Access, three unique animals: Pygmy Hippopotamus, Thomson’s Gazelle and Komodo Dragon, a set of Wallpapers and an original Soundtrack by JJ Ipsen.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does habitat terraforming impact animal welfare and guest satisfaction in Planet Zoo?
Terraforming directly influences animal welfare by shaping the environment to meet their specific needs, impacting guest satisfaction as visually appealing and biologically appropriate habitats enhance the zoo experience. The depth and height of the landscape also affect the animal's behavior.
Explain the role of conservation credits in acquiring animals and expanding your zoo.
Conservation credits are earned through successful breeding programs, releasing animals to the wild, and fulfilling conservation goals. They act as a secondary currency, allowing you to acquire rare animals or essential zoo upgrades that are not purchasable with standard funds.
How does the genetic diversity of animals affect their lifespan and ability to breed successfully?
Higher genetic diversity leads to healthier animals with longer lifespans and increased breeding success rates, while inbreeding can result in poor health and reduced fertility. Players need to manage the genetics of their animals by moving animals in or out of the zoo or by breeding specific animals.
What is the significance of animal enrichment items, and how do they enhance animal well-being?
Enrichment items provide mental and physical stimulation for animals, preventing boredom and promoting natural behaviors. Different enrichment items will fulfill different needs. Effectively used items improve animal happiness and reduce stress, leading to better overall welfare.
Describe the mechanics behind animal breeding, including factors that influence offspring traits.
Breeding success depends on habitat suitability, genetics, and animal welfare. Offspring inherit traits from their parents, and players can influence the desired traits by carefully selecting breeding pairs. The age and fertility also play a major role.
How do staff management and training contribute to the operational efficiency and animal care quality within the zoo?
Efficient staff management ensures tasks are completed promptly, and trained staff are more effective at animal care, habitat maintenance, and guest services. Properly managed staff improves animal welfare and boosts zoo ratings.
Explain the role of guest education and how it influences guest satisfaction and zoo reputation.
Educating guests through informative signs, talks, and exhibits increases their understanding and appreciation for animals, leading to higher satisfaction and a better zoo reputation. These help your zoo get more popularity.
How does the complexity of habitat design impact the animals' behavior and their ability to thrive?
Complex habitats with varied terrain, vegetation, and enrichment opportunities encourage natural behaviors, provide animals with choices, and improve their overall well-being. A suitable habitat keeps the animals happy and healthy.
What is the impact of animal releases into the wild on your zoo's conservation efforts and financial standing?
Releasing animals back into the wild contributes to conservation credits, boosts your zoo's conservation rating, and generates funds, demonstrating the zoo's commitment to protecting wildlife.
Describe how different biomes and climates affect the types of animals that can thrive in your zoo and the challenges they present.
Different biomes and climates necessitate habitat adaptations and the selection of appropriate animal species. Managing the animals needs in various environments (temperature, weather) is an ongoing challenge.

When I saw the game in development the first thing I thought this game must be mine. I love it, when I saw the trailer, and I saw a man sucking the feces of a hippopotamus, I thought, it's great hahaha I need to have to manage feces!!! out jokes, I find it spectacular, both in graphics and in its internal management and I would like to throw hours and exploit it to the fullest with my small computer. My partner would be very happy if I could play it, in our apartment we are not allowed to have pets.
