Yes, you have full manual control over all train systems, including detailed brake controls, sanding, and even individual switch operations. There's also an 'Easy' mode that automates some processes for beginners.; How realistic is the physics engine, and does it accurately simulate factors like wheel slip, dynamic braking, and coupler forces?
The physics engine is highly realistic. It accurately models wheel slip, dynamic braking performance, and the forces exerted on couplers, affecting train handling and route planning.; Does the game simulate track degradation, signaling systems, and weather effects in a way that impacts gameplay?
Yes, track conditions, realistic signaling (including interlocking), and dynamic weather significantly influence gameplay. These factors affect speed limits, braking distances, and train handling.; Are there different levels of realism available, or is it always geared towards a simulationist approach?
The game provides a range of realism settings. You can adjust the level of simulation from simplified (with more assistance) to highly realistic, affecting factors like brake behavior and train handling.; How deep is the route creation tool? Can I build custom routes with detailed track layouts, scenery, and signaling systems?
The route editor is powerful, allowing you to create custom routes with complex track layouts, detailed scenery, and fully functional signaling systems, offering immense customization.; Can I experience different eras of railroading, from steam locomotives to modern electric trains, and are these accurately modeled?
The game features a wide variety of locomotives from different eras, all accurately modeled with authentic operating characteristics, sounds, and performance.; Does the game offer dynamic scenarios and challenges, or is it primarily focused on pre-defined routes and activities?
The game offers both. While pre-defined routes and scenarios are plentiful, there is a scenario editor which allows for dynamic challenges and custom activities based on the user's creativity.; Is there a timetable mode where you can follow realistic schedules and interact with other AI-controlled trains?
Yes, the game features a timetable mode that allows players to run routes according to realistic schedules, managing their train's movements alongside AI-controlled trains, adding a layer of realism to the gameplay.; How detailed is the cab environment, including the functionality of the gauges, levers, and other controls within the locomotives?
