The gameplay on the field is much smoother than I expected. Despite the amount of effects and super techniques, the ball moves naturally and allows for very creative plays. Stealing the ball in the middle, combining with a couple of passes and finishing with a charged technique from outside the box is a real blast. I like that the game rewards both strategy and timing, and that it's not all about mindlessly spamming skills.

The story mode seems to me one of the great successes. You get to know the characters little by little, you see their personal conflicts, past traumas and the dreams that push them to keep playing. That makes each match have an extra weight: you don't just want to win for points, but for what it means to them. There are scenes that seem to be taken directly from the series, with motivational speeches and very marked rivalries that put you right into the atmosphere.

It's honestly a massive W. In a market where every new release seems to demand a $1000 GPU, seeing Level-5 prioritize accessibility is so refreshing. They know their core audience is on Switch and mobile, so keeping the PC specs low ensures the cross-play community will be absolutely huge. It basically means no gatekeeping

One of the things that has surprised me the most is the depth of the training and signing system. It's not just picking eleven players and that's it; you have to think about affinities, natural positions, strengths and weaknesses of each player. I love spending time in the menus adjusting the squad, looking for that winger with the perfect technique or that striker capable of deciding a game. When you then see on the field that your planning works, the satisfaction is enormous.

I'm not sure what to make of it, it seems original in the sense that it's a soccer game with RPG components. Aesthetically speaking, it's a bit of a mobile game, but why not.
