Death Stranding sequel underway, says Norman Reedus
It’s highly unusual, but Hollywood actor Norman Reedus has stated that a sequel to Death Stranding is under development.
During an interview with Leo, Reedus was discussing the game and outright said, “We just started the second one.” Reedus plays the protagonist, Sam Porter Bridges, in the original, opposite fellow actor Mads Mikkelsen.
Reedus went on to discuss how he got the role: "Guillermo Del Toro, who gave me my first movie, called me up and said, 'Hey, there's a guy named Hideo Kojima, he's gonna call you, just say yes.'
He met with Kojima , director of Metal Gear Solid, in LA, and the rest was history:
"I was blown away by what he was showing me, and I was like, 'Yes, let's do this.' It's not Ms. Pacman; it's so realistic, it's so futuristic, it's so complicated and beautiful, and I was completely blown away.
"It took me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything. It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that."
This isn’t the only time the names of Reedus, Kojima, and del Toro popped up together. All three had been attached to create a Silent Hill game, with Reedus as the main character and Kojima and del Toro sharing directing duties. Unfortunately, all we got from them was the legendary free horror game P.T., which Konami subsequently took down after the project fell through. Despite the setback, the friendship between all three remained, which is great since we’re getting a new Death Stranding game.
It’s unorthodox to hear this news from Reedus instead of Kojima Productions, but what exactly are they going to do about it? Fire him?
Then again, Kojima himself appears to have responded to the report in his own humorous way. In what could possibly be an acknowledgment of the news, he tweeted the following images last Saturday:

We’ll likely formally hear from Kojima Productions regarding the status of the sequel in the coming days. Hopefully, we’ll hear about Reedus’s status as well.
Death Stranding launched on the PS4 in November 2019, and was subsequently released for the PC in July the following year. The Director’s Cut came out on PS5 in 2021 and PC in early 2022. You can get a Death Stranding Director’s Cut PC code from our comparator.
