God of War developer is hiring for a new game
Many may think that Santa Monica Studio, the company behind the God of War name, after the success of their two latest titles, is developing a new God of War installment for Sony. However, recent information indicates that Santa Monica’s newest title will be a completely new IP. A recent job listing from Santa Monica hints at this new project.

This job listing seeks a 'Senior External Development Environment Artist' for a 'next-generation narrative combat game.' The phrase 'next-generation platforms' is also used again in the Technical Oversight section under Responsibilities, emphasizing that this new game will primarily target Sony's next-generation console, the PS6. The release timeframe for the PS6 is expected to be around 2027 or 2028, so it might be a while before we hear more about this new IP.
Around February, another job listing from Santa Monica also mentioned an anonymous RPG, which very likely could be the reboot of the third installment in the God of War series. Since these two job listings require different roles, it's highly likely they are referring to two completely separate projects.
Although there hasn't been any confirmation yet about the existence of a new God of War game, the series has brought much success for Sony. The 2018 God of War was widely praised and often lauded as one of the best games at the time. Following this success, God of War Ragnarok was released in 2022 and won 6 awards at the TGA, including Best Narrative and Best Action/Adventure Game. The game was later ported to PC despite some controversies.
If you haven’t had the chance to try out these two acclaimed games yet, it’s highly recommended that you utilize our trusty price comparison tool to find the best deal for God of War Ragnarok or its predecessor, God of War.
