God of War Laufey Reveals Pre-Orders Alongside Key Updates

Pre-orders for God of War Laufey are almost here. Following its attention-grabbing reveal back in June, Santa Monica Studio is gradually showing more of Faye’s standalone adventure ahead of the game’s arrival early next year. And PlayStation’s latest update does more than mark an important milestone for players waiting to secure their copy. It also offers another glimpse at something that has remained relatively mysterious since the announcement: what will fighting as Faye actually feel like?

A Key Date Is Set Alongside a Closer Look at Faye’s Crucial Weapon in God of War Laufey

Just a few hours ago, PlayStation officially shared an important update for those waiting for God of War Laufey. Pre-orders will open at 10:00 AM local time on September 29, while the game’s official release date has also been confirmed for February 16, 2027, on PS5.

Players who pre-order will receive the Last Wish Armor Set, Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance, and an in-game resource pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition was also detailed, adding the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Blade, Bow Scales, and Catalyst, alongside another resource pack, a digital mini artbook, and the official soundtrack. But PlayStation’s announcement goes beyond pre-order details. It also includes new screenshots and footage focused on Faye’s combat, particularly the Serpent Bow — a magical, shape-shifting weapon designed to become an integral part of her combat flow.

The Serpent Bow allows Faye to switch between precise aiming and faster hip-fire at close range. She can load multiple arrows, make use of different arrow types, and weave the bow into melee attacks, aerial combos, and other abilities. Rather than forcing players to choose between ranged and close-quarters combat, Santa Monica appears to want these tools to flow naturally into one another within the same attack sequence.

The bow also features a Scales system that changes its appearance while providing different perks. Faye can also customize her Armor, Blade, and Catalyst to adjust stats, perks, and certain magical effects to better suit different playstyles.

These latest details further reinforce the combat direction Santa Monica has previously described. Faye is built around speed, mobility, and maintaining momentum, with the ability to transition smoothly between ground and aerial combat. With the Serpent Bow joining her sword, the Golden Hand of the Jötnar, and her ability to interact with an enemy’s soul, Faye’s distinct fighting style is gradually coming into much clearer focus.
