King of Tokyo on Steam: Monsters Clash in Epic Destruction

King of Tokyo on Steam: Clash of the destructive monsters!

Let’s admire the digital adaptation inspired by the famous board game of the same name by author Richard Garfield (who is also behind the magic card masterpiece Magic: The Gathering), titled King of Tokyo - Richard Garfield.

Unique dice-rolling gameplay: Destroy or Survive?

On May 21, 2026, developer Breakfirst Games (Breakfirst SAS), along with publisher Microids, officially launched the digital adaptation of the board game King of Tokyo, which belongs to the strategy, casual, digital board game, and local multiplayer genres.

In the game, you will transform into Kaijus (giant monsters) such as Gigazaur, Cyber Kitty, or Alienoid with a single goal: Attack and destroy everything in your path to conquer the capital city of Tokyo and become the "King of Tokyo".

The gameplay closely adheres to and vividly recreates the mechanics of the traditional board game version, typically the dice-rolling mechanic. You will roll the dice and have the right to keep or reroll them to create the best combinations.

Each dice-rolling decision will determine your actions:

  • Heal: To recover lost health.
  • Attack: Inflict damage on other monsters.
  • Gain Energy: Accumulate energy to purchase support cards.
  • Victory Points: Accumulate points to win the game.

During the game, you can use the accumulated energy to purchase Power Cards, which help alter your strategy. You can build your monster toward a "Tanker" (high health) or a "Glass Cannon" (extremely high damage but low health) playstyle.

The match will end and victory will belong to the first person to accumulate enough 20 victory points or be the last monster standing on the board.

The game possesses an art style inspired by woodblock prints and traditional Japanese painting (Ukiyo-e), combined with the vivid movement effects of the monsters.

The game features a highly diverse system of game modes, including single-player and multiplayer modes. In single-player mode, you will challenge your strategies by fighting against AI at various difficulty levels. As for multiplayer mode, the game supports up to 6 players (you and 5 other friends) through shared/split screen play or Steam's Remote Play Together feature.

If you are a fan of the original board game or passionate about the fun dice-rolling strategy genre to play with friends (party game), then this is a title highly worth experiencing. Remember to use our comparison tool to purchase King of Tokyo - Richard Garfield at the most preferential price!

I’m all about motorcycles, retro gaming, and the golden handheld era of the PSP and PS Vita. I love the thrill of the ride just as much as the nostalgia of classic games. I believe games can bring people together, spark creativity, and make the world a little brighter—one adventure at a time.
