Thick As Thieves, the stealth-driven immersive sim from veteran developer Warren Spector (creator of the Deus Ex series) and OtherSide Entertainment, is undergoing a major design shift. The game, which was originally announced as a hybrid PvPvE experience, will now focus entirely on single-player and two-player cooperative gameplay.

A significant change of approach

When first revealed, Thick As Thieves promised a novel blend of competitive and cooperative heists, where players could clash against one another while navigating a fully simulated world. However, according to a recent update from OtherSide, the team concluded that the PvPvE structure was not delivering the experience they envisioned. The competitive element has been removed, allowing the developers to concentrate on tighter, more engaging stealth gameplay.

Under this new approach, the game will support rich single-player campaigns alongside two-player co-op heists, where friends can team up to plan and execute complex operations. According to the developers, this shift already makes the game feel more compelling in internal testing, with more meaningful choices and stealth opportunities.
