    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I "unlock" new buildings and tools simply by progressing through the game, or do I need to research them in some way?
New buildings and tools become available as you progress through the stages of ecosystem restoration and unlock new biomes. Research is not a mechanic.
How does the game handle the placement of buildings, and are there any restrictions based on terrain or resources?
Buildings must be placed on appropriate terrain types, such as wetlands or forests. Resource availability, such as water sources, is also a factor in placement. Incorrect placement or resource depletion can hinder progress.
Is there a scoring system or a way to measure the "success" of my restoration efforts?
Success is measured by fully restoring the environment to its pre-industrial state. The game tracks the percentage of restoration for each biome. There is no traditional scoring system.
What happens if I make a mistake, such as depleting a resource or placing a building incorrectly? Is there a way to undo actions?
Players can deconstruct buildings to reclaim resources. If a critical error occurs, resulting in the inability to continue restoration, the game will need to be restarted. There is no undo function.
How does the game balance the use of limited resources like water and minerals?
Water and mineral availability are essential for constructing buildings and seeding flora. Efficient resource management is critical. Players must carefully balance extraction and replenishment.
Are there any time constraints or a ticking clock that adds to the challenge?
There are no time constraints, allowing players to plan and execute their restoration strategies at their own pace.
Does the game offer different biomes or environments to restore, and do they have unique challenges?
The game features a variety of biomes, each presenting different restoration challenges, required technologies, and unique environmental conditions.
How do I deal with pollution left behind by the industrial age?
Players must construct specialized buildings that specifically address and remediate pollution, which is essential for ecosystem restoration.
Are there any "endgame" objectives beyond simply restoring the environment?
The primary objective is to restore the environment, and there are no additional 'endgame' objectives or victory conditions beyond achieving that.
How do I know what to build where, and how do I understand the restoration process?
The game provides hints, and tooltips and players observe the immediate effects of their actions and the overall ecosystem restoration, guiding the optimal placement of buildings.
