    The Cold War heats up in this expansion for Combat Mission: Cold War, putting you in command of NATO’s frontline forces at the height of a potential East–West showdown. Combat Mission Cold War – British Army of the Rhine brings new armies, vehicles, and campaigns to the battlefield, recreating the tense late 1970s and early 1980s when Europe stood on the brink of open conflict.

    The highlight of the module is the arrival of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR). Armed with iconic vehicles such as the Chieftain main battle tank, FV432 carriers, and agile reconnaissance machines like the Scorpion and Scimitar, the BAOR delivers a powerful mix of armored punch and mobility. Alongside them comes the Canadian 4th Mechanized Brigade Group (4 CMBG), a unique NATO formation that blends Centurions, Leopards, Lynx reconnaissance vehicles, and even the last flamethrowers to see European service. On the opposing side, the expansion introduces Soviet VDV airborne troops, supported by their fast-moving BMD infantry fighting vehicles and elite paratroopers.

    Three full campaigns, one each for the British, Canadians, and Soviet Airborne, offer rich, story-driven experiences that test your tactical decision-making. In addition, a wide selection of standalone scenarios ensures countless hours of replayability, whether you prefer to fight through historical encounters or experiment with custom matchups. A brand-new map region, based on the rugged training grounds of the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) in Canada, adds fresh terrain for both NATO training exercises and intense combat operations.

    As with every entry in the Combat Mission series, authenticity and tactical depth are at the core. Every unit, vehicle, and weapon is modeled with meticulous attention to detail, capturing the doctrine and technology of the period. Success demands careful planning, combined-arms coordination, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing battlefield conditions. Combat Mission Cold War – British Army of the Rhine also supports both single-player and multiplayer play, including online head-to-head, LAN battles, and hot-seat options.
