Acer unveils Nitro Blaze Link, a handheld centered on only streaming

Acer unveils Nitro Blaze Link handheld tailored solely for game streaming

As gaming handheld prices continue to rise due to increasing memory and storage costs, Acer is taking a different approach with its latest portable gaming device. Instead of competing directly with premium handheld PCs like the Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion Go, the company has unveiled the Nitro Blaze Link, a lightweight handheld designed primarily for streaming PC games.

Introduced at Computex 2026, the Acer Nitro Blaze Link is built around local game streaming rather than native gaming, unlike the more expensive Acer Predator Atlas 8 or older members of the Acer Nitro Blaze family.. Acer describes it as a PC-focused alternative to devices like Sony’s PlayStation Portal, allowing users to stream games from a more powerful desktop or gaming laptop over a local network.

To keep costs down, the hardware is intentionally modest. The Nitro Blaze Link features just 1GB of LPDDR4-2133 memory, 8GB of eMMC storage, and an 18Wh battery. While those specifications would be insufficient for modern PC gaming, they are adequate for handling game streaming duties. The handheld runs a Linux-based operating system with Sunshine and Moonlight streaming software preinstalled, enabling users to access games running on compatible PCs elsewhere in the home.

On the hardware side, the Nitro Blaze Link includes a 7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920×1200. The device also features dual analog sticks, a D-pad, action buttons, shoulder triggers, stereo 2W speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connectivity is handled through WiFi 6, while charging is provided via a USB-C port that supports up to 15W power delivery. Acer notes that the USB-C port is intended solely for charging and does not officially support data transfers or peripheral connectivity.

The company is positioning the Nitro Blaze Link as a companion device for systems such as the Predator Helios 18 AI and Nitro 16 gaming laptops, allowing users to stream their PC game libraries anywhere within range of a stable wireless network. It remains unclear whether cloud gaming services such as NVIDIA GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud Gaming, or Amazon Luna will also be supported.

Acer has yet to announce official pricing, but the Nitro Blaze Link is expected to cost significantly less than traditional gaming handhelds. The device is currently scheduled to launch in North America during the fourth quarter of 2026. For gamers seeking a more powerful standalone option, Acer also recently introduced an updated Predator Atlas 8 handheld powered by Intel's new Arc G3 chips.
