According to Videocardz, ASUS is developing a version of its ROG Astral Dhahab Edition graphics card based on the RTX 5080, which will allow more customers to access this new “golden” GPU.
The ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab Edition GPU originally features a design inspired by the Middle East, showcasing gold and turquoise colors along with Arabic script. This GPU even has a gold heatsink! With this new RTX 5080 edition, the Dhahab Edition GPU from ASUS will become available at a lower price point. Nevertheless, lower price does not equate to cheap.
The cooler for the 5080 Dhahab Core is derived from the air-cooled version of the ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC, although it remains unconfirmed whether there will be any differences in cooling performance or clock rates. The inclusion of “Core” in the product name may imply that this version is more of a standard or base model within the Dhahab lineup, likely featuring fewer high-end attributes compared to the premium 5090 variant.
Since the ROG Astral brand from ASUS is currently limited to Nvidia’s RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 products, it is improbable that we will see more golden GPUs in this generation. Do not anticipate a Dhahab Edition RTX 5070 or RTX 5070 Ti in the future, as those GPUs lack standard ROG Astral models. However, ASUS might create a new Dhahab Edition design based on their TUF Gaming and Strix models as a foundation.
ASUS has yet to reveal the technical specifications, pricing, or availability of the new card. However, due to the limited release of the previous Dhahab edition, it is expected that the 5080 Dhahab Core will also be offered only in select markets. This GPU is likely aimed at being exclusive to Middle Eastern regions, although there could be a demand for such a product in other areas. Ultimately, this GPU is ideal for anyone looking to build a PC with an Ancient Egypt theme.
