Modern Warfare 4 brings DLSS 4.5, Ray Tracing and 90 FPS to PC

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 reveals its PC requirements
System requirements

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is almost ready to drop, and PC players are getting a particularly generous selection of tools to make the new shooter fit their hardware. Activision has now showcased the PC version in detail, highlighting everything from advanced rendering options and ray tracing to improved mouse input and a dedicated benchmark tool. At the same time, the final PC system requirements have been revealed, giving players a much clearer idea of what kind of machine they will need when the game launches.

Tech features on PC

The PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is designed to run on a wide range of hardware. The game features more than 800 customizable options across graphics, controls, interface and gameplay, which give playests obsessed with achieving the best performance plenty of knobs to turn. Resolution support covers the usual 1080p, 1440p and 4K configurations, while ultrawide displays are also supported. The game is particularly well equipped when it comes to upscaling, with NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR Redstone and Intel XeSS 3 available alongside Filmic SMAA T2X. That gives owners of modern graphics cards several ways to improve performance without simply accepting a major reduction in image quality.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 emphasizes flexibility on PC with an exclusive Enhanced FOV option that uses physically accurate lens effects to expand the player's view towards the edges of the screen while keeping the central field of view intact. There are also separate controls for World Depth of Field and Weapon Depth of Field, allowing players to fine-tune how these effects are applied.

Also, a new muzzle-effect masking system can prevent weapon effects from obscuring the point of aim, potentially making it easier to keep track of targets during particularly hectic firefights. Meanwhile, a new Weapon Bloom system calculates bullet trajectories from the weapon's barrel rather than simply scattering shots inside a predetermined area. The result makes weapon behaviour more consistent and predictable.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 also offers ray tracing in all of its major experiences, including the Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ. Ray tracing can be used for lighting, shadows and reflections, giving compatible systems a route towards a substantially more sophisticated visual presentation. There is, naturally, a fairly significant hardware requirement attached to that functionality.

The PC version also includes several features that could have a surprisingly large impact on the experience. A dedicated Benchmark Tool allows players to test their systems using a simulated multiplayer sequence. It can provide recommendations for adjusting settings and finding a suitable performance configuration.

There are some platform requirements that PC owners should check before launch as well. Modern Warfare 4 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, both of which are tied into the game's RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system. Intel Arc graphics cards also require Resizable BAR, while the supported processor configurations need AVX support.

PC System Requirements

Alongside all that information, Activision has also revealed the final system requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on PC. As you can imagine, the higher the performance, the more demanding the requirements are. The list of specifications is right below:

Minimum:

• OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (latest update)
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600
• RAM: 8GB
• Video Card – AMD: Radeon RX 470
• Video Card – NVIDIA: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / 1060
• Video Card – Intel: Intel Arc A580
• Video Memory: 3 GB
• Storage Space: 115 GB - SSD required
• Network: Broadband Internet connection
• Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Recommended:

• OS: Windows 11 64 Bit (latest update)
• CPU – AMD: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
• CPU – Intel: Intel Core i7-8700K
• RAM: 16 GB
• Video Card – AMD: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT
• Video Card – NVIDIA: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
• Video Card – Intel: Intel Arc B580
• Video Memory: 8 GB
• Storage Space: 115 GB - SSD required
• Network: Broadband Internet connection
• Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Ultra specs to run with High quality Ray Tracing at 4K upscaled:

• OS: Windows 11 64 Bit (latest update)
• CPU – AMD: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
• CPU – Intel: Intel Core i7-10700K
• RAM: 32GB
• Video Card – AMD: Radeon RX 9070 XT
• Video Card – NVIDIA: GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
• Video Memory: 16 GB
• Storage Space: 115 GB – SSD Required
• Network: Broadband Internet connection
• Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

The entry-level configuration is built around hardware that is now several generations old, while the recommended specification moves into considerably more modern territory. In particular, doubling the system memory from 8GB to 16GB and moving to GPUs with 8GB of VRAM illustrates the difference between simply getting the game running and targeting the kind of performance PC players typically expect from a modern multiplayer shooter. The requirements become considerably more demanding once ray tracing enters the equation.

Taken together, the new PC presentation paints Modern Warfare 4 as a technically ambitious but highly configurable shooter. The game is packed with features designed specifically around the flexibility of the platform. How you will take advantage of these features only depends on your PC.
