Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is overhauling its progression system

Even though Warhammer 40,000: Darktide boasts impressive graphics and gameplay full of action in an epic adventure set during the Dark Millenium, some aspects of the game have not convinced the fans of Games Workshop's tabletop game. It's been already a year since the game was released, and it received a warm welcome from the community of fans of Warhammer 40,000 it was praised for delivering an accurate representation of the universe and an experience full of action similar to what players can enjoy in Vermintide 2. Unfortunately, its popularity went down rather fast due to a progression system that was not at the appropriate level. Now, developer Fatshark tries to make amends with a total rework of the system.

More choices and unique skills

In an interview with PCGamer, Darktide game director Anders De Geer has revealed a new talent system that is much more interactive and rewarding, with the possibility of choosing from a variety of meaningful upgrades every time you level up.

“We wanted players to get a bit more agency into the classes, a bit more experimentation, support a lot more different play styles. Basically what we’ve done is reimagine what a class in Darktide is. This is our huge update: we’ve expanded the talent trees, and added a ton of new options and abilities, passives and actives.”

Seasoned Darktide players will discover that they have many more ways of developing their characters as they level up, not necessarily having to end with the same cookie-cutter build. The possibility of customizing your character as you please looks quite appealing in a game where you take on a group of missions over and over to get improved loot and fight harder enemies.

If Darktide wasn't your cup of tea, you may want to give it another opportunity when the upcoming update lands in October and overhauls its progression system. If you are yet to try the game, the cheapest Warhammer 40,000: Darktide codes are available already with our comparator.
