Techland invites players into a bold new standalone adventure with Dying Light: The Beast, a visceral reimagining of survival in the post-apocalyptic wilds. Set deep within the overgrown expanse of Castor Woods, the story follows Kyle Crane. He was once a legendary survivor, but now he is a fugitive test subject. After years of brutal experiments, Kyle breaks free, only to discover that the world outside the lab has descended even further into ruin. With civilization long collapsed and the infected more feral than ever, every step into the forest may be his last.

Castor Woods, once a celebrated mountain retreat, now lies abandoned beneath a thick, choking canopy. Crumbling lodges, forgotten campsites, and collapsed viewing towers form a deadly playground haunted by ravenous zombies and plagued by shifting weather. Fluid, modernized parkour lets you navigate this vertical wilderness with speed and precision while vaulting cliffsides, weaving through wreckage, and stalking enemies from the shadows. Survival hinges on every decision: hide or confront, sneak or sprint, scavenge or risk it all. By day, the infected lurk in the undergrowth; by night, they surge into relentless predators.

But Kyle is no longer just a survivor. The experiments that nearly destroyed him have awakened beast-like abilities like brutal strength, heightened perception, and primal instincts that can turn the tide when used wisely. Mastering these powers becomes essential as Kyle realizes he is not alone in the forest. A towering, unidentified creature stalks Castor Woods, claiming it as its personal hunting ground and responding violently to any intrusion. Unraveling its origins may be the key to escaping or to embracing what Kyle is becoming.

Dying Light: The Beast delivers an intense, modern survival-horror experience that can be played solo or cooperatively with up to four players. Dynamic world events, unpredictable infected behavior, and a deep progression system ensure every expedition into the woods feels unique. The question remains: in a world where monsters rule the night, will you rise above the terror or surrender to the beast within?

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Beast's 'Sense' ability function, and what kind of tactical advantages does it offer beyond simple enemy detection?
The Beast's 'Sense' ability allows it to perceive the world through a unique sensory overlay. Beyond simply highlighting enemy locations through walls, it can also reveal residual trails left by survivors, track their recent movements, and even pinpoint interactive environmental objects that can be used to its advantage, such as weak structures to collapse or flammable materials to ignite. Mastering 'Sense' is crucial for effective ambushes and predicting survivor escape routes.
What are 'Fear' and 'Rage' mechanics for the Beast, and how do they influence its combat effectiveness and overall power?
Survivors' 'Fear' is a resource the Beast can cultivate by instilling terror through its actions – ambushing, creating chaos, and using its terrifying abilities. As survivor fear rises, the Beast gains 'Rage.' Rage acts as a temporary power-up, enhancing the Beast's speed, attack power, and unlocking more potent, visceral abilities. Managing survivor fear and effectively converting it into Rage is key to overwhelming survivor defenses during critical encounters.
Describe the 'Evolution' system for the Beast. How does it differ from typical skill trees, and what strategic choices does it present?
The Beast's 'Evolution' system is not a traditional skill tree. Instead, it focuses on adapting and specializing its core predatory instincts. By consuming specific types of survivor prey or achieving certain hunting milestones, the Beast unlocks distinct evolutionary paths. These might focus on enhanced stealth and tracking, raw destructive power and crowd control, or even unique environmental manipulation. Players must strategically choose which evolutionary branches to pursue, tailoring the Beast to their preferred playstyle and the specific challenges presented by the survivor team.
Can I switch between playing as the Beast and the Survivor freely during a match, and what are the limitations?
You will only be able to play as the Beast, and will never switch to being a Survivor.
What specific advantages and disadvantages does the Beast have when navigating the game world compared to a typical survivor?
The Beast can traverse the map using unique parkour moves and has enhanced mobility, but faces limitations in using human equipment such as weapons and tools.
How does the Beast's power progression work? Are there skill trees or specific actions that unlock abilities?
The Beast's power progression involves evolving through hunting and consuming survivors, unlocking new abilities and increasing its strength based on these actions.
Are there different types of Survivors to hunt, and do they provide different benefits to the Beast upon consumption?
Yes, various Survivor classes offer unique challenges and rewards to the Beast. Consuming certain types can provide temporary buffs or permanent upgrades.
How does the game track and reward the Beast for successful hunts, and what is the ultimate goal?
The game tracks successful hunts through a scoring system, with the ultimate goal typically being to eliminate all Survivors within a given time frame or meet other specific victory conditions.
What role do environmental elements, such as light and structures, play in the Beast's hunting strategy?
Environmental elements are crucial. The Beast can use shadows for stealth, utilize parkour to ambush, and manipulate structures to cut off Survivors' escape routes or create traps.

Dying Light: The Beast is so powerful precisely because it discards the heroic image, allowing us to witness in first person the thirteen years of imprisonment and brutal torture endured by the legendary Kyle Crane after saving Harlan. For players who have followed him since the original game, this impact is unparalleled. We once controlled him, running freely across Harlan's rooftops, fighting for a glimmer of hope. But The Beast shatters these memories: it teaches us that the end of the hero is not an anthem, but an endless cycle of imprisonment and scars. These thirteen years not only devastated his body, but also asked a fundamental question: when a hero, who saved the world, is betrayed and forgotten that same world, does everything he stood for still make sense?

It's a highly recommended game for fans of the saga, and in my opinion the true sequel that the original deserved. The story is a bit bad, and the script in general is pretty mediocre, but the gameplay holds up perfectly, and the new "beast mode" can lead to some pretty funny moments, smashing biters as if they were made of paper. Overall, I recommend waiting for it to come out, because while the game is pretty fun, €60 is a pretty steep price just to play as Kyle Crane on a map smaller than any other Dying Light game. Other than that, my main complaints are about the story, so if you don't mind, give it a go.

The game is pretty solid, the story is acceptable and most of the mechanics are good. Compared to previous installments, some mechanics have been removed and others have been added. The boss fights are not particularly challenging, but become more annoying over time. The story concept is well developed, though not the best. Plot twists are a 2/10 because they happen too fast. The world feels empty, though it's no longer repetitive. The dark zone mechanics were not well thought out, as they require no effort. The tension for a horror game is higher than in the first installment, but still not enough to call it a horror game. There are survival elements, such as collecting necessary materials, but not enough to make the game a challenge to watch another day.

No tengo ninguna queja.
Just say "thank you" for creating this work of art, very good story. I keep getting bored, it's dynamic and immersive, good combat, good physics, open world. I have no complaints. The improvement is very noticeable especially because it continues with the story of Dying Light 1, being a kind of x-men zombie mutant, but we are in times where many games were disappointing too much, and dying light 2 was not being left out until this one came out that, honestly, could deserve the goty. I think they showed off with everything in the game so far, they did it, thank you very much for that, it's about time.

Me funciona perfectamente.
Great game! I remember the Harran map, running all over the place, climbing on the roof, the hook (modified but in a positive way), killing zombies with brutal executions, etc. For what? For Dying Light The Beast, is the improved version of the first installment. Absolutely everything I loved, the story, the gameplay, the new options they give you, the fact that the branch of improvements is not so extensive to not make it so tedious, it has many positive things but above all its performance. I am totally satisfied with the purchase, an exquisite game that makes me remember the first installment, especially for the protagonist, Kyle Crane,

Crane now has access to Beast Mode, which can be activated under certain conditions, unlocking abilities and strength similar to Volatiles. Both combat and parkour seem to have been improved, giving the game more impact and realism. The residential areas are ideal for the character's good mobility and the cars will come in handy, especially in the wilder areas

I love the game. I came from the first Dying Light and the second and I can say that the game combines the best of both games. You start with several skills, doing pretty good parkour even though it's only the beginning of the game. The combat is quite fun.

A perfect return to basics - couldn't have dreamed of anything better, bravo Techland. I loved the first one, but I really hated the second. Well, for the moment, I must say I really like it! One big plus point: the optimization is impeccable, which has become very rare these days, especially on PC. For that alone, congratulations to the developers.
