Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes receives a release date

The publisher 505 Games, along with the developer Rabbit & Bear Studios, unveiled a 6-minute video fleshing out several mechanics of the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, as well as a release date for April 23, 2024. The footage begins by introducing the three protagonists, Nowa, Seign, and Marisa, each with their own backstory and goals. The trio has a predestined encounter and, together, will change the world of Allraan.

The game's plot revolves around the power of magical objects known as rune-lenses. When the Galdean Empire embarks on a quest for an artifact that will amplify the power of rune-lenses, Seigne and Nowa cross paths, initiating their tale. Check out the video below:

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes lives up to its name, as we can recruit over 100 heroes for our party. In battle, we can take up to six members, each with their authenticity and uniqueness. If party members have an affinity for each other, it is possible to activate devastating combo attacks. The combat system introduces a novelty called terrain-based unique combat, where we can strategically use the environment to protect ourselves from enemy attacks.

There is also the so-called War Mode, which pits the player against enemies in a grid-based strategy combat. As the player recruits more heroes, their legion becomes stronger. However, it is still necessary to be cautious and work tactically to achieve victory. For this, pre-planning is required, which can be done at The Alliance Headquarters, a base for heroes that grows as new members join the group.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was a Kickstarter project by Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano, the creator and writer of Suikoden, respectively. The minimum amount to be raised was $500,000, but it exceeded and almost reached $5 million. One of the milestones achieved resulted in the release of Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, a prequel to Hundred Heroes.

Not coincidentally, Konami announced the remaster of the first two Suikoden games as soon as Eiyuden Chronicle reached the mainstream. Titled Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, the games are set to be released in 2024.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is another project culminated by its creators as a spiritual successor and only made possible through crowdfunding. The game promises to evoke the nostalgia of all JRPG players of yore. It will be released on April 23, 2024, for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One|Series, Switch, and PC.
