Forza Horizon 6 is doing the one thing every big sequel wants to do: make the last game look small. That is not easy when the last game is Forza Horizon 5, one of the most loved open-world racers ever made, but the new entry has arrived like it had something to prove. Between the Japan setting, the car culture, the bigger online pull and the ridiculous Steam numbers, this is already feeling like the strongest Forza Horizon game so far.

Forza Horizon 6 is racing with Steam’s biggest games 

The big talking point right now is Steam. Forza Horizon 6 has pushed itself into Steam’s top 5 most played games, which is not normal territory for a racing game. These spots are usually owned by the same giants every day, especially Counter-Strike 2, which remains the top played game on Steam. But Forza Horizon 6 managed to sit among that crowd, with SteamDB showing an all-time peak of 302,645 concurrent players on May 24, 2026. PC Gamer also reported that the game reached Steam’s top 5 with more than 300,000 players at once.

 

 

That number becomes even crazier when you put it next to Forza Horizon 5. The previous game peaked at 81,096 concurrent players on Steam back in November 2021. So, we are not talking about a small improvement here. Forza Horizon 6 has pulled almost four times that Steam peak, which says a lot about how much hype the series has built and how badly players wanted this new entry.

What makes this launch feel even better is that it does not look like empty hype. Players are clearly showing up because the game gives them exactly what they want from Horizon: fast cars, freedom, style, online chaos and that “just one more race” feeling that can eat an entire evening. The Japan setting also gives the game a fresh identity, especially for players who love drifting, street culture and car meets.
