Another free game has arrived on the Epic Games Store as part of its ongoing weekly giveaway campaign. This week’s title replaces last week’s double offer featuring the two Styx games, and players can now claim Rustler - Grand Theft Horse. As usual, you have seven days to add the game permanently to your Epic Games Store library.

Released in 2021 by Jutsu Games, Rustler – Grand Theft Horse is a comedic take on classic top-down action games like the early Grand Theft Auto titles. Players step into the shoes of a medieval troublemaker, roaming an open world packed with constant pop-culture jokes and absurd humor.

Set in a deliberately inaccurate version of the Middle Ages, the game invites players to take part in strange and over-the-top activities. These include tackling bizarre quests, drifting horse-drawn carts, getting fined for parking in “no horse zones,” competing in underground cage fights, and even excavating dinosaur skeletons. A unique bard system provides traveling music, and changing the tune is as simple as punching the bard - much like switching radio stations.

 

There are pop-culture references, and the game's humor leans heavily towards immaturity. The controls are simple, and it has a basic skill tree that's easy to comprehend. However, the mission structure can feel repetitive over time, and the melee encounters are often janky, but these aren't dealbreakers. On Steam, Rustler - Grand Theft Horse has over 1,100 reviews, and among them 79% are positive.

The giveaway is now live on the Epic Games Store. PC players can claim the game for free within the seven-day window, after which the next free title is expected to arrive on January 29.
