The "Heart of Democracy" update for Helldivers 2, released on May 20, 2025, marks a significant evolution in the game's narrative and gameplay, bringing the battle directly to Super Earth.

These AI-controlled allies can operate independently or be commanded to support Helldiver squads, providing strategic advantages during missions. Alongside this help comes more danger. New enemy types have joined the Illuminate’s forces. The Crescent Overseer hovers and scouts, the Stingray flies like a jet and attacks from above, and the Fleshmob charges in with brute force. Each new enemy changes the way players must fight and defend their objective.

While no new weapons have been added in this update, the recently introduced weapon customization system allows players to modify and upgrade their existing arsenal. As weapons are used and leveled up, new attachments and enhancements become available, enabling players to tailor their loadouts to the challenges of urban combat.
