Release date

Konami has officially announced Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, scheduled to launch on August 27, 2026. The definitive highlight of this compilation is the long-awaited rescue of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from its PlayStation 3 confinement.

For the first time in nearly two decades, players can experience Solid Snake's cinematic final chapter on modern hardware with enhanced resolutions, smoother frame rates, and modernized control schemes, following from Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. While the original Metal Gear Online component remains absent, the single-player narrative arrives fully intact alongside its original interactive database.

Peace Walker and Ghost Babel Complete the Package

Beyond the iconic fourth entry, the collection bridges the franchise's modern era by featuring Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Upgraded from its previous HD iteration, this critical chapter detailing Big Boss’s operations in Costa Rica fully retains its online co-op and multiplayer capabilities for up to six players. As a surprise digital bonus, Konami has also included the critically acclaimed 2000 Game Boy Color title Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, offering fans a rare, alternate-universe look at classic 2D stealth gameplay.

Platforms, Release Date, and Archival Bonus Content

True to the archival nature of the series, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is packed with digital lore extras, including comprehensive Master Books, screenplay transcripts, and a digital soundtrack selection. The collection will be available as a multi-platform release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

For players who prefer a modular experience, Konami will also offer Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker as standalone digital purchases. Check out our comparison website for the best pre-order deals on METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2.

Glad to see Peace Walker back in the spotlight. This is probably one of the most underrated episodes in the saga, even though it's essential to understanding Big Boss's story.
