Xbox's Future Secured as Microsoft Teams Up with AMD
Earlier this month, the Xbox Games Showcase took place, which included a hardware announcement, but Microsoft had been keeping a significant partnership a secret until now. Today, it unveiled a "strategic multi-year partnership with AMD" aimed at creating its forthcoming Xbox consoles and other devices.
In a video shared across Xbox's social media platforms, Xbox president Sarah Bond disclosed the collaboration with AMD. It's worth noting that Microsoft's Xbox Series X | Series S consoles, along with the earlier Xbox One series, already utilize AMD technology, making the ongoing partnership rather predictable.
"Working alongside AMD, we are pushing the boundaries of gaming technology to deliver the next generation of graphical advancements that will enhance visual quality and provide immersive gameplay experiences powered by AI, all while ensuring compatibility with your existing library of Xbox titles," Bond stated in the promotional video for the partnership.
The two Xbox Ally Windows gaming handhelds revealed earlier this month are also equipped with AMD internals, offering lightweight, bloat-free Windows 11 gaming experiences on the go.
At this stage, the design of Microsoft's next-generation Xbox remains a mystery. Nevertheless, it's anticipated that it will include advanced AMD CPU and GPU components. The console is expected to feature an AMD Zen 6 CPU alongside UDNA/RDNA 5 graphics. However, the next generation of Xbox is expected to encompass more than just the console itself.
The ROG Xbox Ally is generating considerable enthusiasm with Xbox’s bold venture into the console-handheld space. On the other hand, if you're looking for a handheld that is already well-established, fine-tuned for optimal performance, and crafted for serious gaming away from home, the ROG Ally X clearly excels. Boasting longer battery life, enhanced ergonomics, and complete Windows functionality, it represents everything that the future of handheld gaming should strive for.
