The Monster Hunter series hits the outstanding 100-million units sold milestone

The Monster Hunter franchise has surpassed 100 million units sold worldwide, and Capcom is thrilled with this news. The announcement comes simply on the saga's 20th anniversary, which the publisher has celebrated over the past few months. The Monster Hunter series consists of action-hunting games that pit players against giant monsters in open environments. As stated by the publisher, the IP is a phenomenon in Japan and has been successful in both the mobile market and the console and PC sectors.

Over the years, several Monster Hunter releases have managed to break the 1 million sales mark - or even more. Titles like Monster Hunter: World reached the milestone of 25 million units sold, while its expansion, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, sold 12 million units. Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Rise reached the milestone of 15 million units sold, and its expansion, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, was secured by 8 million fans.

The milestone becomes even more impressive considering that Monster Hunter: World was released in 2018 and Monster Hunter Rise in 2021. That is, 60 million of the 100 million units were sold in just the last six years. For comparison, the first Monster Hunter was released in 2004.

Since 2017, with the release of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the publisher has been growing and shows no signs of stopping.

For 2025, they already have lined up the release of Monster Hunter Wilds for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, with rumors of the arrival of Resident Evil 9.
