Subnautica 2 is already getting better after its first major update
Subnautica 2 has officially taken its first big Early Access step forward, and honestly, it feels like the game is starting to shake off the messy launch bubbles and swim toward something much stronger. The new Early Access update, Adaptive Measures, is not just a small “we fixed three rocks and a fish blinked wrong” patch. It is a proper community-driven improvement pass that tackles player feedback, smooths out exploration, and makes the alien ocean feel a little less like it wants to personally ruin your afternoon.
One of the biggest wins is how movement and exploration feel better now. Players finally have smoother tools to move around, explore bases, and manage the usual survival-crafting chaos. That matters a lot in a game like Subnautica 2, where half the fun is swimming into the unknown while pretending you are not scared of every shadow under the water. When exploration feels cleaner, the whole loop becomes more exciting, and this update seems focused on making the adventure flow better instead of fighting the player at every turn.
Creature encounters feel fairer, but still spooky
Creature encounters also got some very welcome attention. Subnautica has never really been about turning the ocean into a monster-hunting arena, and Subnautica 2 is keeping that spirit alive. However, the update gives players better ways to deal with hostile creatures without making the game feel like an underwater shooter. Being able to scare off or temporarily stun certain threats makes survival feel fairer, while still keeping that classic “what was THAT noise?” panic that makes these games so memorable.
What makes this update especially encouraging is the message behind it. Unknown Worlds seems to be listening. Instead of pretending everything was perfect from day one, the team is already making changes that feel based on real player frustrations. That is exactly what Early Access should be: a messy but exciting laboratory where the community helps shape the game before full release.
And the future already sounds fun. Co-op features are coming next, including improvements that should make playing with friends feel more natural. Considering Subnautica 2 supports multiplayer, this could be a huge part of the game’s identity going forward. Exploring the deep sea is scary enough alone, but screaming with friends while something massive swims past? That is premium gaming.
Subnautica 2 still has a long swim ahead, but Adaptive Measures is a very promising sign. Before diving in, make sure to use our price comparison tool to find the best prices for Subnautica 2 and start your underwater adventure for less.
