Have you ever dreamed of creating the perfect game? Now you can do it with Dreams! This is a game that offers you a detailed game creation system that allows you to create user-generated content in the form of fully-fledged games, mechanics, assets, 3D sculptures, music, and art, which can then be shared or remixed to be used in other's creations. You control an "imp" that acts as a mouse cursor and lets you interact with the game's world and interface to create new items and characters.

Dreams features a campaign mode named Art's Dream and the environment to create your own games. This campaign follows a former jazz musician, Art, as he dreams about his life, past and present, and realizes that he needs to make amends with his fellow bandmates. The journey takes him through a series of dream-like situations involving him and a whole cast of wonderful fantasy characters such as D-Bug, a helpful little robot with an electric personality and Frances, a hammer-wielding teddy bear.

Dreams includes four main modes – Dream Surfing, Dream Shaping, Home Space Editor and Community Jam. The first, Dream Surfing, is the traditional play section of the game, where you browse games to play, assets, sculptures, and art to view, or music to listen to. Art's Dream campaign mode is also part of this section. You can give feedback on games that other players have created here too. All the content of this section is made by other players. Dream Shaping is where you create your own game and assets. You have plenty of tools available for this including sculpting, painting, music tools, and gadgets. The Home Editor is the place where players can meet and it is used as a central hub. Finally, the Community Jam is a themed contest run by Media Molecule where players can get votes from other players. The winners and runner-ups will get a badge on their creation's page.
