The terror begins again with the third installment of the Outlast series: The Outlast Trials. A prequel to the first two games, the franchise raises the stakes by bringing the first-person survival horror experience to co-op multiplayer. Bring up to four friends as you attempt to survive the horrific results of the Murkoff Corporation’s experiments.

Set during the Cold War era, The Outlast Trials sees the vile Murkoff Corporation kidnapping people and bringing them to their secret facility. Victims are turned into human guinea pigs as they are subject to horrible tests involving hallucinogens and brainwashing. As with the first two Outlast games, you have no weapons or means of fighting back. You must use stealth and quick reflexes to navigate the rooms and corridors of the facility. Somehow, you and your friends must outwit and outrun demented inmates twisted beyond all redemption. If you get caught, you will die in the most brutal ways imaginable.

One thing is granted in The Outlast Trials: the blood and gore involved in trying to escape the monstrous inmates will leave you traumatized. There will be blood.

You always respawn, but repeated failures can lead to lasting psychological effects and penalties within the trials themselves.; How does the 'Sanity' mechanic influence gameplay, and what triggers its decline?

Rebirth is a progression system. It resets your character's level and some upgrades, but provides permanent buffs and unlocks new trial variations, encouraging replayability.; Besides the night vision, what other tools are available to help players survive, and how are they obtained?
Players can find and equip tools like smoke bombs, healing items, and traps. Tools are either found in the trials or can be crafted using materials gathered during trials.; How does the 'Therapy' system affect the gameplay experience?
Therapy sessions are meta-game challenges that provide rewards and story progression. They introduce unique gameplay elements outside of the core trials.; What is the primary function of the 'Mk-Challenges' system?
Mk-Challenges are specific side objectives within each trial that provide additional rewards. Successfully completing these challenges often requires understanding the trial's layout and enemy behaviors.; Does the game feature a persistent world beyond the trials themselves, and if so, what activities are available?
Yes, The game features the Sleep Room, which players use to customize characters, interact with other players, and access different game modes, but it is not a large open world.; How does the game encourage teamwork and communication among players?
Many trials are designed to be extremely difficult solo. Objectives often require players to split up, coordinate actions, and share resources to succeed.; What types of enemies will players face in the trials, and how do their behaviors differ?
Players face a variety of enemy types, each with unique attack patterns and behaviors. Some enemies are stealth-focused, others are brute-force attackers, and some even set traps.
