    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see the word on my phone's screen at any point during my turn?
No. The entire premise of Heads Up! Phones Down Edition is that you cannot see the word. Your teammates provide clues while you hold the phone to your forehead.
How does the game know if I guessed the word correctly or if I want to skip it?
You indicate your choice by tilting your phone up (correct) or down (skip) after hearing the clues, using the phone's accelerometer.
Do I need to touch the screen at all during my turn?
No. All gameplay interaction, from starting the round to guessing or skipping, is done through the phone's motion sensors.
Are the clue-givers limited in the types of clues they can give?
Yes. The clue-givers can use only words or sounds, no gestures or charades are allowed.
How does the game keep track of the time?
There is a built-in timer that counts down during your turn. The time limit varies by the deck.
What happens when time runs out during my turn?
The game automatically ends your turn. Any words you didn't guess correctly or skipped are tallied.
Can I choose which categories of words I want to play with?
Yes, the game offers a variety of themed decks or categories that you can choose from.
How many players can play at once?
The game supports multiple players, but only one player at a time holds the phone and guesses the word.
Does the game provide a history of the words I've already played?
No. The focus is on the current round, so the game does not usually track a history of the words.
Can I customize the categories or add my own words to the game?
The game typically includes pre-set decks, and the option to add custom words depends on the specific edition or features.
