The Last of Us is a survival and action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog that tells the story of a smuggler named Joel and a teenage girl named Ellie on their journey through the infested United States. Sony Computer Entertainment published The Last of Us, which debuted on PlayStation 3 in June 2013. In The Last of Us, players control the game from a third-person perspective and traverse the ruined United States and its various post-apocalyptic environments, such as cities, crumbling buildings, and deadly sewers. Players have firearms, improvised weapons, and camouflage at their disposal to fight against other hostile humans or the dangerous cannibalistic creatures that have been the product of a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus. Players control Joel, the smuggler, for most of the game as he escorts the young girl Ellie, who is controlled by artificial intelligence. Players get to control Ellie in the winter segment of the game. The Last of Us offers players long-range weapons (rifles, snipers, and bows) and short-range weapons (firearms and shotguns). There are even limited-use melee weapons in the game, such as pipes, bricks, and bottles, which can be used to attack enemies, distract them, and stun them. The weapons obtained by players can be upgraded using the collected items. Various equipment such as Molotov cocktails or health kits can be found or crafted if you have the required items. Your maximum health and crafting speed can both be improved by finding pills and medical plants, and life can be recharged by using health kits. The Last of Us has a special listening mode that gives players the ability to see the position of all enemies through an enhanced sense of auditory and spatial awareness by displaying their outlines.
