Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon first gameplay trailer is hectic
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco shared a gameplay trailer for their upcoming mecha action game alongside a definitive release date. Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon is full of mech action, including fast-paced battles, in-depth customization, and thrilling boss fights. The series was on a hiatus since Armored Core: Verdict Day, released in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Check in the following trailer what you can expect from Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon:
This entry tells about a mysterious new substance called "Coral," discovered on the remote planet Rubicon 3. As an energy source, this substance was expected to dramatically advance humanity's technological and communications capabilities. Instead, it caused a catastrophe that engulfed the planet and the surrounding stars in flames and storms, forming a Burning Star System. Almost half a century later, Coral has resurfaced on Rubicon 3, a planet now contaminated and sealed off by the catastrophe. Extra-terrestrial corporations and resistance groups fight over control of the substance. The player infiltrates Rubicon as an independent mercenary and finds themselves in a struggle over the substance with the corporations and other factions.
Game director Masaru Yamamura shares some insights regarding Armored Core VI's settings:
"It's an intricate and multi-layered world, brimming with mega-structures and enormous underground facilities built by its former inhabitants. These structures cover a planetary surface wracked with extreme cold and contamination in the aftermath of the great disaster, and the player will be exploring these various environments as they proceed."
Featuring highly mobile and customizable mechas, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will put players in fast-paced battles where they can use offensive and defensive maneuvers on both lands and in the air to overcome foes. To be the most successful and profitable mercenary on Rubicon 3, players must master rapidly changing combat distances, using the environment for protective cover, and omnidirectional battles to overcome challenging enemies and situations.

A mechanic called Assault Boost allows players to instantaneous switch between long-range gunfighting and close-range melee, which directly impacts a whole new addition to the series, the stagger. When an Armored Core is repeatedly hit, this can overload their system and leave them stunned. Weapons, distance, and other strategic equipment can help stagger enemies quicker. Hopefully, stagger will be effective against colossal bosses expected to return in this installment.
As with Elden Ring, FromSoftware will release Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon for all platforms. The game arrives on August 25 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
