Battlefield 6 Beta Launch: Maps, Trailer & Key Dates Unveiled

EA and DICE have officially announced the Battlefield 6 Open Beta, and it’s shaping up to be the most ambitious public playtest the franchise has ever seen. A new gameplay trailer has dropped alongside a full breakdown of what players can expect when the beta begins this August.

The latest trailer wastes no time delivering chaos. Set in a near-future war between NATO forces and the militarized corporation Pax Armata, the footage showcases explosive combat across land, sea, and air. From skyscrapers crumbling under artillery fire to tanks parachuting into urban zones, the scale and spectacle on display reflect the full potential of the revamped Frostbite engine. Close-quarters tunnel fights, amphibious assaults, and a dramatic helicopter collision sequence all point to a Battlefield experience tuned for maximum intensity.

The Open Beta is set to roll out in multiple phases. An early access window runs from August 7–8, available to players who either watch eligible Twitch streams for drops or have previous Battlefield Labs access. After that, the floodgates open to everyone. The first public beta weekend kicks off August 9–10, followed by a second session from August 14–17. Players on PC (via Steam, Epic, or EA App), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S can preload the game starting August 4.

As for what’s playable, the beta includes four multiplayer maps over two weekends. During the first weekend, players will battle across Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, and Iberian Offensive. The second weekend introduces Empire State, a gritty, infantry-focused map set in a war-torn Brooklyn. Gametypes available include Battlefield staples like Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill. Weekend two will also add Rush and Squad Deathmatch into the rotation.

Beta participants can complete in-game challenges to unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards. These include the "Lights Out" player card, the "War Machine" vehicle skin, and a rare "Bat Company" dog tag. While these rewards will carry over to the full game when it launches, player progress and stats will not.

DICE is also using the beta to gather feedback on new gameplay systems and class balance. Notable tweaks include the addition of a new Assault-class gadget, the Assault Ladder, and changes to the revive system, which now features in Domination mode. A new "Closed Weapons" playlist is also being tested, limiting loadouts to class-specific weapons for a more tactical experience. While Battlefield Labs will pause during the Open Beta, DICE confirmed that the community test environment will resume afterward, incorporating feedback from both weekends. With the full release of Battlefield 6 slated for October 10, 2025, this beta will serve as a critical checkpoint on the road to launch.

To run the beta smoothly on PC, players will need a minimum of an RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU and at least 16 GB of RAM. For best performance, EA recommends an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT. Players should also note that kernel-level anti-cheat is enabled and requires Secure Boot to be turned on in BIOS.
