Pokémon-like RPG Cassette Beasts is free on the Epic Games Store

The holiday giveaway promotion on the Epic Games Store is still going strong, now featuring its 11th free game. Following yesterday's We Were Here Together, players can now obtain Cassette Beasts for free on PC. If players claim this latest cooperative title before the next free game is revealed in a few hours, they will be able to keep it forever.

Created by the indie developer Bytten Studio and released in 2023, Cassette Beasts is an open-world RPG that draws inspiration from the highly popular Pokémon games. The game is set on a secluded island filled with peculiar creatures, allowing players to collect these beasts (in cassette tapes) to use them in battles.

The main gameplay focuses on transforming these monsters, which players can employ to engage in fights. The battle system follows a familiar turn-based format, where different elements can deal varying amounts of damage to different types of creatures. There are type-based interactions that can trigger status effects, and players have the option to launch direct attacks on human characters if their monsters are defeated.

Cassette Beasts is available for free on the Epic Games Store for just one day. As the festive promotion continues, the store is keeping future free games' identities hidden until they are released. The next mystery game will become available to all PC gamers at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET on December 28.

To date, the store has provided titles such as  Hogwarts Legacy, Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, Eternights, Blood West, Sorry We're Closed, Paradise Killer, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, The Callisto Protocol, Disco Elysium - The Final Cut, and We Were Here Together as free giveaways for PC gamers. This event will continue until December 31, featuring a new giveaway every day.
