Magic: Legends' difficulty system explained
Magic: The Gathering was one of the pioneers of the Collectible Card Games and the first one to become a hit across the world. It was followed by others like Pokémon, and we could also enjoy the game on our computers in several forms a while later. Nowadays, the genre is brimming with all kinds of games with different mechanics and even companies like Blizzard have their own collectible card game. Magic: The Gathering still has quite a lot of fans, and the announcement of Magic: Legends created a lot of expectation among them, even though the game is an action role-playing game instead of a pure collectible card game.
This new free-to-play game inspired by the Magic: The Gathering universe will put you in the shoes of a powerful Planeswalker as he adventures through Dominaria and other planes. You will engage in fast-paced combats and explore maps full of enemies as you gather resources to unlock and empower cards that represent the different skills that you can use in combat.
Magic Legends design lead Adam Hetenyi has unveiled a bit more about the mechanics in the game in a new video and blog post that talks about the different difficulty levels in the game. Magic: Legends will feature four levels of difficulty, ranging from Normal to Master. Each of them will be more challenging than the previous one and you will unlock them progressing through the story. On harder difficulties, the gameplay will also be influenced by a variety of enchantments that can modify a different aspect of the game and affect either specific regions or the whole world.
Magic: Legends looks like a very interesting combination of Diablo 3 and Magic: The Gathering that should be playable at some point this year. No release date for the game has been confirmed so far, but there is an open beta event that will kick off on March 23rd. If you want to take part in it you can sign in by visiting the official website.
