Gears of War: E-Day gets two brutal limited edition Xbox controllers

Gears of War: E-Day is getting closer, and Microsoft is giving fans another way to celebrate the upcoming Xbox exclusive with a pair of seriously cool controllers. Inspired by the game’s brutal aesthetic, the new Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller features a cracked black-and-red design complete with the iconic Crimson Omen.

The Limited Edition controller takes inspiration from the E-holes that Locust forces emerge from, with 3D-molded and laser-etched details recreating cracked asphalt across the front. Red cracks spread across the black shell, giving the controller a battle-worn appearance that fits the series perfectly.

Most of the buttons remain black, while the X button, triggers, and D-Pad use transparent red-tinted designs. The rear battery door also features a silver COG tag, adding another small Gears-inspired detail.

The Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller is available to preorder now through the Microsoft Store and participating retailers. It launches on October 6, the same day as the game.

Fans who want something more personalized will also get another option through Xbox Design Lab. Starting September 30, players will be able to create their own Gears of War: E-Day controller featuring a custom top case decorated with a skull sitting above crossed Lancers, surrounded by additional skulls and battle-damaged details inspired by the war between the COG and Locust Horde.

Microsoft is also teaming up with 8BitDo on a matching charging dock, which comes with a rechargeable battery pack for the controller. Both controllers support Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, Android, and iOS, making them useful beyond just playing E-Day. Buyers who preorder the Limited Edition model through the Microsoft Store can also receive free shipping while supplies last.

Gears of War: E-Day launches exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 6. It will also be available on day one through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
