Minecraft is playable for free
To say that Minecraft is popular would be an understatement. Created by Mojang in 2009 and officially released two years later, Minecraft's gameplay has attracted no less than 200 million players, making it the best-selling game of all time and dethroning the long-time titleholder Tetris. Since then, the game has been adapted in a multitude of ways, from items such as the LEGO collection to an adaptation of the Minecraft world into a dungeon crawler, Minecraft Dungeons.
Whether you're a fan of the original game or of Minecraft Dungeons, you'll enjoy the following. First of all, you should know that it is now possible to play Minecraft for free, at least in the purest form of the original game, since it is the alpha version from 2009. Obviously, this version does not include all the content of the game as it is now, but it has the advantage of being playable directly on the browser. It allows you to discover the basics of the game if you have never tried it before, or to rediscover the game as it was at the time, for the more nostalgic. In order to play this classic version of Minecraft, all you have to do is go to the game's official website, right here, and enter your username. You can invite up to nine other players, simply by sending them the link that appears in the dedicated field.
But that's not the only news about the franchise today. Minecraft Dungeons will soon be receiving new content via a DLC called Echoing Void. It's the successor to Hidden Depths and it will close the story arc that started a year ago. But don't worry, there are more DLC coming later on. Echoing Void will take you to The End, where you'll face new enemies, take part in perilous new missions, and discover secrets. Echoing Void will be released on 28 July across all platforms and it will also come with free anniversary content, including new enchantments, and a new mission type.
To top it all off, an Ultimate Edition featuring the base game Minecraft Dungeons and the game's first six DLCs, including Echoing Void, will be released on the same date.
